1 Out Of 3 For Harry Hill + TV Burp At British Comedy Awards 2012

Jonathan Ross

Jonathan Ross

TV Burp has walked away with a British Comedy Award in its last year.

It beat off competition from Alan Carr Chatty Man, Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show to come out victorious in the Best Comedy Entertainment Programme. Collecting the award on Harry Hill’s behalf, who was doing warm up dates for his upcoming tour, was the TV Burp team, Heather and Knitted.

You can listen to the TV Burp team talk about winning below:

However, Harry himself didn’t have a good night, with him losing out to Charlie Brooker in Best Comedy Entertainment Personality and Lee Mack for Best Male Television Comic.

British Comedy Awards 2012 Tonight – Will Harry Hill Win? + Special Beano Annual With Harry Hill Cartoon Return

British Comedy Awards 2012

British Comedy Awards 2012

It’s the British Comedy Awards tonight on Channel 4.

Harry Hill is up for three awards, with this being the seventh year in a row that he has nominated. TV Burp is up for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme and Harry is nominated for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality and Best Male Television Comic.

The show is on from 9pm tonight.

The Guardian has suggested that Harry’s omission from the King or Queen of Comedy could suggest that he is going to get a lifetime achievement award. Whilst it may be a timely award after the end of TV Burp, Harry got the same nominations plus This Is Jinsy last year and didn’t get a single win.

Also, to celebrate both 75th anniversary of the Beano Annual, a special limited edition version with a special cover has been produced for the awards, featuring a number of comedians nominated tonight, which sees the return of Harry Hill from The Dandy!

Editor in Chief of The Beano, Mike Stirling, has said:

I wonder how many of this year’s British Comedy Award winners were inspired to become comics after reading The Beano, the World’s funniest comic? I hope The Beano continues to be the first stop for jokes, laughs and pranks for the next generation of British Comedy Award winners too!

See the cover after the break…

Goodbye Knitted Character

Cloth Ears

After 3 and a half years, the Knitted Character is no more.

Having found official supplier of Knitted, Cloth Ears, back in April 2009 at the height of TV Burp, the company has confirmed to Harry Hill Fansite that everyone’s favourite crocheted friend is no longer going to be available.

Having recently revamped their website, the company made the decision after a decline in demand. Whilst second hand versions are still available on the likes of Ebay, many of them are either fakes or homemade.

Whilst it is the end for now, the company has indicated that the product could return if Knitted returns to our screens.

Harry Hill Does The Treble At British Comedy Awards 2012 Nominations

Jonathan Ross

Jonathan Ross

Harry Hill has received three nominations in this year’s British Comedy Awards, marking the seven year in a row that he has nominated.

In its last series, TV Burp is up against Alan Carr Chatty Man, Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show in Best Comedy Entertainment Programme.

Harry has been nominated for TV Burp in Best Comedy Entertainment Personality against Charlie Brooker for 2011 Wipe, Graham Norton for The Graham Norton Show and Stephen Fry for QI.

Finally, Harry is up for TV Burp again in Best Male Television Comic against David Mitchell and Lee Mack for Would I Lie To You? and Sean Lock for 8 Out Of 10 Cats.

On his nominations, Harry has said:

I am thrilled that my personality has been deemed entertaining enough to be nominated for a British Comedy Award, particularly in this, the last year of TV Burp, and when I next see it I will be certain to let it know. It would be the icing on the cake if it won – but no pressure.

The awards show is on a week Wednesday (12th) at 9pm on Channel 4.

For more on the awards, visit British Comedy Awards.
